Tsuruga is a unique place. It’s the first town over the border from Kansai in Hokuriku. It is a beautiful little city and worth spending a day exploring and it has a great supersento. It’s more than just a supersento, though. It’s got a whole indoor-outdoor pool attached to it.
I really loved this place. The staff were pleasant. The onsen from two springs is fed into pools of various temperatures. The springs both have a good onsen feel to them. The bathing area is small and there is not much selection, but it is a rural supersento and that is expected. Still it has more selection than some places I have been. The landscaping in the rotenburo area was green and very relaxing. The view is astounding as the building is high up on a hill overlooking the city, a freeway, and the Japan Sea. The pool area is great too. Super fun for playing around in. It does not have any slides, but it is not just a rectangular pool. The outdoor lounging area was great too. That astounding view makes it what it is.
The hot spring here was originally found when a tunnel was being drilled through the mountains hence the name Tsuruga Tunnel Onsen.
Take the tourist bus from the station or drive cause it would be a pretty tough walk. The tourist information office has discount tickets.

APA Hotel Kanazawa Chuo - Sauna Katamachi
Japanese Name: APA金沢中央ーサウナ片町
Type: Business Hotel
Roof top bath connected to the APA hotel in downtown Kanazawa. I was quite surprised about the quality of the onsen which is piped from underground all the way too the roof of this 14 story tall building. The view from the roof is amazing as expected. Free use for guests of the hotel otherwise it's 1,500 for 3 hours use. Coupons available on the website

Matsu no Yu
A basic sento in Kanazawa city near some of the old style neighborhoods. This sento is built into the first floor of an apartment building.

Fuji no Yu
Fuji no Yu is a large sento tucked off of busy intersection across from Toyama’s nightlife district. From the outside you would think that the inside would be the same drab austere tile, but it was pleasantly cluttered inside. This is a basic bandai style bath where you pay after entering. A very elderly grandmother was minding the bandai when I came in. The baths were piping hot which is good during the cold Toyama winter. The bubble and jets both were strong and refreshing. The cold, cold water bath was very deep and great to ease into. There is a long dry sauna along the side wall that was turned off when I was there for whatever reason. Next to the door are two showers facing each other one hot and the other cold. I wonder if the regulars here like turning them both on at the same time. Not much character to this bath, but refreshing and somewhat conveniently located.
Brilliant local sento and just a few minutes from Toyama Station. Hot water with a simple but enjoyable selection of baths. The old building is also quite beautiful.
