Hinata is the closest supersento to Shin-Osaka station and offers a free shuttle bus to the station. The supersento itself is built on the top floor of an apartment building that the tenants have free access too. It is smaller supersento and it suffers from what I feel was the architect having a lack of experience building large bathing areas, but its good points way outweigh these smaller problems. The view is impressive of the Umeda area skyline along and it offers decent views of planes coming into Itami Airport. Sadly there are only two indoor baths but who wants to be inside in a place like this. Outside the main shallow bath has led lights built into the bottom and many real plants making it very relaxing. This would be a fun place to take a first timer or guest from abroad for their introduction to Japanese bath culture. The small snack counter is nicely equipped and offers a foot bath plus a balcony with a second foot bath. A great place for having a post bath drink. Very highly recommended. If you come by car you will have to use one of the coin operated paid parking lots as this supersento does not have a parking lot.

Great very big open floor plan sento with the main baths in the center. There is a somewhat rare salt water bath in one corner and a very comfortable cold water bath, a lot of good tile work throughout the baths too.

Sweet older sento about halfway between Juso and Nishinakajima Minamikata stations on the Hankyu Kyoto Line. Long walk however. The bathing area was clean and the tubs were made out of well worn stone. I liked  the large stones in the floor also. Sadly there is no cold bath and the shower is broken. The changeing room could need some repairs as could the bathroom and small garden. Kotobuki-yu is beautiful, a little investement would make it outstanding.

Yu~Raku is a nice basic Osaka sento a short walk from Juso station. The location is a bit far, but it's a good place to remember in case you're looking for a quick bath before or after a night out. The baths are all soft water. Good place.

The water here is normal Osaka city water, but good quality. Curvy describes the design here. The main bath is nice and curvy and the deep area is very nice, but the jets are weak and pushed into a cramped corner. The sauna is nice, but a little weak. The outdoor baths are both small and a little shallow.

Done in a exposed concrete style with emphasis on curves, the design of Enmei-yu makes it worth a trip here. The layout is basic bandai style with separate entrances for men and women. In the wide bright changing room the lockers curve in and out as they direct you to the entrance for the baths. The toilet is located in the front end of the changing room off of an little concrete alcove. Everything seems like it was the day it was opened. Of course there are signs of this place’s age, but it's not dirty like some places get.

The person in the bandai (the front reception area) is always cheerful and the costumers seem very happy. I had a nice chat with a fellow gaijin here the first time I came. Everyone seems to be enjoying their own time. And the price, at only ¥350 well below the normal ¥410, you can't make a better choice for a quick bath near Umeda.

The name, Enmei 延命, means longevity.

They also sell some sold style sodas.

Sakae-yu is one of the most conveniently located sentos in the Osaka area just 2 minutes from Noda Station on the Loop Line. It is impossible not to spot it from the platform. Great classic Osaka-style sento with a ton of baths and stairs and places to explore. Highly recommended.

Convient to  Noda and Ebie stations! I liked this place just looking at the exterior. Inside the lobby is pretty cluttered in a welcoming kind of way. The grandmother working the counter was fun to talk to and she was interested in how I enjoyed going to sento. She explained that the local Russian guy in the neighborhood loves using the sauna. Inside everything was very clean and tidy. There's a large shallow open air bath that was great in the afternoon sun. The cold water bath was also a treat. The interior is lit up at night by a city street light mounted to the side of the wall. Like a real, honest to goodness, streetlight. According to the grandmother during the Hanshin Awaji quake the original lightfixture fell and was a danger to be replaced, so the owner went with the toughest thing he could find--a city streetlight. One of those unique things you stumble upon that makes touring sento so much fun.

Daifuku-yu was a pleasant surprise. So close to a station that I travel by on my way in and out of Osaka, yet I never thanked to look for a sento there. The building has a bright cheerful appearance with an interior to match. This sento is pristinely clean from the tubs to the water itself. Just normal city water here, but it's cleaned and treated in a way to make it just as pure as possible. There's a basic, yet adequate selection of baths to try out. Great place for a first timer. It's also within easy striking distance from Universal Studios Japan and the many hotels around there.

Ikkyu is a supersento a stones throw (or free shuttle bus) from Universal Studios Japan in Osaka’s port area. Thanks to the tourists from USJ and that it’s the only supersento in the area Ikkyu is very crowded. Uncommon for supersento there were locals that knew the staff and were chatting with them friendly as if it were a downtown sento. My wife and I also noticed many tourists from all over Asia in the baths most likely resting off a long day at the theme park.

Ikkyu is very well designed and appointed supersento filled, almost exclusively, with a clear   and odorless hot spring water that was slippery to the touch. The onsen here is a real gem if you’re looking for the smooth and slippery feeling water. Each of the baths was lined with a light brown mineral buildup from the that seemed to be easily chipped off. There were also a few sings explaining that yu no hana (deposits) might be floating in the water. All of these are sings of a good spring for me. The baths were either concrete or wood lined, no bright tile here. The lack of bright lights and tiles helped relax and subdue crowded, noisy bathing areas.

I enjoyed the selection of hot (43), normal (41) and warm (38) baths, although I wished the hotter one was a bit hotter. Ikkyu is a very well designed supersento with great water near a major tourist attraction so I cannot complain that it is crowded, but it is something to be aware of. The very tight entrance and sitting area in the front made getting in and out of the bath somewhat stressful. I also found the changing room to be very small and to be very hot. Some of the outdoor baths had a strong chlorine smell, but that was reassuring that they are clean and for me a good thing as the smell reminds me of hotel pools back in the USA. These few complaints are minor compared to rest of the Ikkyu experience however.

Large 3 floor sento with a large selection of jet baths many of which are very, very strong. There is a small rotenburo with a limited view of the sky, but I liked it a lot. It had a hotel hot tub feel to it for some reason. If you're hungry try the izakaya next door for a great menu and nice freindly service.

Terume is a classic sento experience. All of the signs, murals, tile work is points to this being a part of Osaka's culture and history. An outstanding example if not the best.

Where to start. Terume has the best steam sauna I've been in. They fill it with fragrances that change three times a week. Unlike some other steam saunas this one feels very hot. Sweating out in there has to be good for you.

The normal baths are anything but. Well built and used they feel like a good pair of jeans that you've had for a long  time. Not to mention they are filled with filtered spring water.

There are two different electric baths in the back along with a jet bath. These baths are filled with normal heated water. Most of the men sit in and around these baths and watch the large screen TV.

There are two hot spring baths, one is in a grotto with a mural of an Asian scene to the side of the main bath area. The second, and better of the two, is in the large rotenburo area in the back. This big shallow bath is divided into two levels. The shallower of the two set up with sleeping baths. There is also a well designed miniature Japanese garden in the back. These are straight hot spring baths no heating, watering down or recirculating. They are treated with chemicals for health reasons.

Speaking to the quality of the spring. Hot springs sometimes have a smell to them. Terume has the best smell of any spring. It reminds me of some of my favorite springs back in the USA. The more than adequately hot sodium-chloride onsen gives you a fresh and relaxed feeling.

If this isn't enough, Terume has a basement with even more baths, two showers, more washing places, and another TV. Above the baths on the second floor there's a restaurant and karaoke too!

Bad things? Well there's a lack of basins to use. Look around, or in the basement area for a yellow one. The other basins might be ones brought in by the customers themselves. The rotenburo is surrounded by a tall wall not allowing much of a view of anything other than the sky above. The changing area is a bit small also. These are not big complaints but good to know.

Terume Tatsumiya. Highly recommended.
