Sometimes you find a sento that is just so Osaka and really keeping the sento culture alive and Eiwa-yu is definitely one of those. Three floors of baths! You gotta love the stairstry not to slip! On the bottom floor there is a doughnut shaped walking bath that I was a bit confused about. You can see the water pump in full view also. On the top floor there is great little rotenburo. This place has everything. Highly reommended.

There is no space for a rotenburo in this first floor supersento built underneath a gym, but it doesn't need one. They have a very inventive "outdoor" area that is worth going to see at least once. High quality stone is used throughout the modern bathing area giving this bath a much better feel than one might expect for the area. The hot spring was not very noticeable, but it was effective afterwards. For the price this is a great place for what they offer. Only down sides was the smallish Spartan changing room and the uneasy atmosphere I felt from the fellow bathers and staff.

Yu~topia is a "kenko land" style multi-floor bathing and relaxation center. These "kenko land" places were the predicessors to the present day supersentos. A few still exist today. Judging by the webpage this place has been remodeled since I went there last. There are men's and women's floors, large dining areas and party rooms to enjoy. Interesting bubble era retro experience if you're interested.

*CLOSED* Yamato no Yu are not worth driving across Osaka for. We ended up trying this supersento because it was part of a stamp rally. The baths here were indifferent at best. They claim to have a natural spring here but there was no sign of it when I went. It might have once been in the small inadequate rotenburo area but the spring information was covered up with an advertisement. Inside the baths felt like they barely filled the room. I will not return to this Yamato no Yu and it’s not worth going to unless you live in the neighborhood. It's really hard to find too.

Big family orientated supersento near the development of Saito New Town in northern Osaka prefecture right on the main Route 171. Well designed, very popular, but the actual bathing area is small for the price. Lots of room in the restaurant and comic book room however. Decent place.

A fairly basic supersento in an industrial neighborhood of Kadoma city, this member of the Yumoto Iccho chain doesn't even compare to it's sister Neyajyu no Yu. The interior is stark and bland. There isn't much in terms of decor. It felt more like a large bath in a mid-range business hotel or a gym. The rotenburo also lacked much in way of decor. The central garden was nice, but it wasn't enough. The baths themselves are fine. A centerpiece is the large rotenburo bath which has a deep, shallow, and extra shallow part. My daughter really loved playing around in that extra shallow area. The tub baths are filled with straight well water at a good cool down temperature. The spring was ok, definitely noticeable as spring water, but not that effective. There were lots of kids, so don't worry about bringing yours and the restaurant seems to be the local drinking spot, so don't worry about downing a few chu-his. I had a good impression from the staff and customers. Kadoma no Yu is being remodeled in March of 2013 so I'm going to have to return.

**UPDATE**

After the remodel the baths were pretty much the same but they added a carbonated water bath and cleaned everything up. Nice place overall.

Supersento in an entertainment complex. Great water. Lots of different baths including a very shallow onsen filled bath that I really enjoyed. The spring water is very noticeable and worth trying. There is also a great carbonated bath. Good place, but heavily used and shows the wear and tear that comes with it's popularity. The rotenburo is pretty big for being on top of a building but has a great wide open feel that makes you forget you are only a few minutes away from downtown Osaka.

The best of the Yu~Bath supersentos that I have been to. I love the water. There's a few cooler baths. Not much to be said for design it is pretty basic. Using the waterfall bath can end up spraying water on everyone around you. There are two warm straight from the well tub baths outside which are the best and also very popular. Good luck getting in one of them. I have seen some bad mannered children and adults here, especially on busy holiday nights. Might be best to visit here on a weekday. Keep an eye out for coupons for this place even floating around the lobby.

Neya was one of my favorite supersento then they turned off the hot spring, with no reason given. Maybe it got contaminated. To replace the spring water they have treated the water in the main rotenburo to make it feel soft, so it is not that bad. I just cannot feel right paying the same price for no natural spring water in this supersento. It is a very well designed supersento however. There is a great selection of temperatures in the indoor baths including a warm heavily carbonated bath. Good place but ¥800 on the weekends for no spring water is a bit steep.

Sankukai is a truly a 秘密湯 secret bath. It's a 30 minute walk from the nearest bus stop far, far up in the mountains north of Osaka. The water is amazing and hot. Be careful washing off or touching the hot faucets, it could burn. There are two simple concrete tubs a hot and warm one. There's also a small metal cold water tub in the corner. The cold water is also from a well. This is a real onsen experience and well worth the trip to enjoy it.

Shio no Yu is a ryokan that has a popular day use option up in the hills north of Osaka. It is a long train and bus ride to get out to this corner of the prefecture. Some might be surprised that there are rural places like this in the prefecture at all. The baths are ryokan style baths so not much in terms of variety, but you are getting some really high quality water this is a good place. The well is actually a cold one and they heat up that water for the baths.

I had low expectations for this supersento. The pictures I saw online looked decent but they didn't excite me. I was totally mistaken. Yes, Nawate no Sato is on one of Osaka's least beautiful streets. There’s a three wheel motorcycle for rent out front. The parking lot has a car wash in it. Next door there’s a factory and an empty lot. To be honest, It looks junky. The sento building itself is clean and well maintained, It’s not the most ideal locations for a supersento. That said once you get inside it’s amazing. Yea the lobby restaurant area is generic. It’s the baths and the other customers that make this place great. I’ve never seen such polite and friendly people in a supersento.

The baths are all labeled if they use the hot spring water and additionally labeled if it’s heated or not. Temperatures for most of the baths is also posted. This is a simple courtesy that most supersento do not offer. The selection of baths is amazing for the small space. The amazing silk bath is filled with unheated spring water then carbonated. The water is opaque white and feels great. My 2 year old daughter didn’t want to get out. I can tell a bath is good on my daughter’s reaction to the water. She was delighted. Smiling, talking, playing in the water.

Outside there is a large rock lined rotenburo. The bottom is lined with flat cut stone that has the texture of very, very fine sandpaper. Just perfect. There also is a smaller warm hot spring bath and two tubs with straight from the well gensen. Those two baths were too cold the winter night we came but I can imagine they are quite busy once the weather heats up.

This is a good bath, but it’s one best visited in the summer when it’s hot because of it’s selection of cool and warm baths. They also have the elusive cold sauna. This one was unlike any other I have seen to this point. It’s all frosted in like the cooler box in an office refrigerator.

The normal sauna seemed a bit small. There are foam mats for the sauna outside the door that are kept in an automatic washing rack and the customers actually used it correctly. Even getting out of the sauna everyone rinsed off before getting into the cold bath--at least while I was paying attention.

Thinking about it, the only thing that I can say was bad about Nawate no Sato is that the men’s restrooms were stinky.

Three family baths are available. ¥2,500 for 1 hour for 3 people. An extra ¥500 is charged for additional children.

Nawate no Sato is very highly recommended if you can get there. I went by car and doubt walking to this sento is an option unless you really want to hike it. They do have a free shuttle bus to the stations listed above. Check their website for the timetable.

I can’t wait to go back in the summer.
