ReviewHistorical sento that is listed as a tangible cultural asset by the Japanese government. You can feel the history in this place. If you go to one sento in your life, Gengabashi would be a great option. Check out the Statue of Liberty on the roof. That's because "New York" sounds like "Nyuyoku" or in kanji "入浴" meaning "to take a bath."
Update Winter 2019: Temporarily closed for a extended period of time. So sad. I hope it opens again soon. Check the Osaka Sento Association webpage above for more current information.

Review:This bath is wide, too wide. The size of an urban Japanese supermarket even.
We all have our own styles for taking the bath we all get to play those roles out in the bath. Having a lot of space here it felt like people had more freedom to act as they wanted. In more normal sized sento that are smaller, people need to confine their activities to the size of the bath. However, here people fill the space accordingly. This one guy got out of the sauna and and laid, facedown in the cold-water, got out, did a round on the foot massager things then began doing yoga stretches in the electric bath. Was he a regular? Was he one of these new “sauna” guys? Who knows.
There is a cool street lamp style main light over the central bathing area. The cold water bath is huge. It is a bit moldy here and there. Over all a weird and good sento.

Review:Very large sento with a spacious entry, changing and main bathing area. This is a 3-level design where you enter on the middle then there is a below ground and above ground area in the back of the building. Great radon steam bath here, that is always a plus. Interesting stuff beings with the below ground area that has a walking bath. This one seems to have been broken for some time so there is no stream of water to walk against. Instead the owners have cemented rocks into place on the floor making it a foot massage bath. Very refreshing and recommended if you have not yet tried one. The above ground area has a shower, dry sauna and a few specially located washing areas. Outside there is a medicated bath and a cold-water bath. Nothing is better than an outdoor cold-water bath in the summer. Also, as this is in the Korean area of Osaka, make sure to look out for some signage in Hangul! Always a fun thing to spot. All-in-all a solid local sento. Visit Date: August 2020

ReviewNice sento in the Korean area of eastern Osaka city. Interesting because all the signs in the bathhouse are written in Japanese and Korean.

Review:A short walk from the station right off the shopping street. This is a very spartan sento. Not much in terms of design but it is still comfortable and well designed. Decent steam sauna. The cold water bath is tap temperature or mildly chilled. Interesting that the waterfall bath is in the cold bath--somewhat rare. Great option in the area.

ReviewTenryu-yu is a large clean sento in a friendly neighborhood. The mist sauna and outdoor herbal bath were of note. The okonomiyaki place on the corner by the entrance is pretty good eating too.
