ReviewSometimes you find a sento that is just so Osaka and really keeping the sento culture alive and Eiwa-yu is definitely one of those. Three floors of baths! You gotta love the stairs—try not to slip! On the bottom floor there is a doughnut shaped walking bath that I was a bit confused about. You can see the water pump in full view also. On the top floor there is great little rotenburo. This place has everything. Highly recommended.

Review: Another outlet in the Gokuraku supersento chain and one with a natural hot spring bath. This one keeps the entrance in line with the Osaka sento price, so it is very affordable for all baths you get. However, you’ll have to bring your own soap, shampoo, etc. Great deal for the price. Straight from the well spring water bath was advertised as 41 and it felt about that temperature with a nice natural hotness. Skin feel was a bit a rubbery feel while the smell was somewhat earthy like mate tea perhaps. The color was also a lovely Assam tea brown with noticeable buildup on the rocks. Great spring overall but the shallow bath was strangely designed and hard to find a comfortable place to sit. Good option in the area. Review: Don't let the dark exterior fool you! There is a vibrant and refreshing sento here. The first hint should be the hand sewn noren with hiragana characters on them. Small place overall when compared to the large building but the baths are well arranged along with a small dry sauna. The selling point of this sento for me was the enclosed radon steam bath with bubbles with the outdoor herb bath a close runner-up. Some decent tile work here and there but nothing too special. Good option for the area. Visit Date: September 2021

Review: What an incredibly unique place, and it's got that handmade feel to it. The owner seems to have got a patent for how the sauna is laid out. There are small stones in the baths and in the steam sauna, which were never seen elsewhere. The signage is of all handmade. In fact, this is a place where everything is handmade. The uniqueness of this sento comes from the handmade, mildly dangerous feel it gave me. This is one of the sento any enthusiast would enjoy, but it is sure to be good for a newbie.
The water seemed to be well chlorinated, and I didn't feel anything was dirty. It was used, and you can see the age of the place in the wear and tear. I enjoyed the steam sauna the best. It has a cool bath in it, so you can enjoy the odd sensation of having your body in the cool bath water while your head is getting hot from the steam. They have a system where if you want to go to the bath twice in one day, the second time is only 100 yen. No other place I have been to has this. It is so odd. Visit Date: August 2022

Hotel Seiryu

Review:Ishikiri Hot Spring located in Hotel Seiryu is just amazing. There are just two baths: one large indoor one and a smaller outdoor one but that's all you need thanks to the amazing water. The hot spring here is actually a cold spring that is heated up and recycled into the baths. Heated water is straight up amazing, but in the bath head over to the corner where the fountain is. You'll notice two flows of water into the bath. The larger one is the heated (and maybe diluted) spring water. The smaller one is the straight from the well water. It's much colder and you can tell instantly on your skin that this is a unique spring. Outside the small bath is great, but the view is absolutely amazing. You can see right were the Daini Hanna road and the Kintetsu Keihanna Line enter tunnels to go under the mountain you are on and head to Nara. It is not just that either, right in front of you is the Kintetsu Nara Line where you can see the Kintetsu and Hanshin trains pass by most of them quite slowly as Ishikiri Station is a stop for all but the fastest trains on the line. In the landscape, Harukas the tallest building is clearly visible along with the Nanba and Umeda centers of Osaka. It's worth just going to Ishikiri Station for the view, but seeing it from a bath makes it all the better. Oh, and I went there on a rainy day and found it to be amazing. I can only guess how beautiful it would be at night or on a clear day. The hotel itself is older but quite friendly and has that lovely bubble era feel to it. The staff were also very kind and welcoming. Nearby is a hiking course up over the mountain to Ikoma if you are interested. I went about half the way up and saw the old waterwheel and kanpo 漢方 factory on the way. Billows of cinnamon and ginger smelling mist came out of the factory over the road. The path is steep and I'm still sore a few days later from that short walk.Visit Date: May 2016 *Hot Spring Data*Spring Type: Radioactive spring - 放射能泉Temperature Type: Cold spring - 冷鉱泉Osmotic Pressure: Low - 低張性

Review: Ikoma-yu is a small and friendly sento with a lot of good features and a few unique ones. The main bath feels extra deep and vigorously filled with a wide semi-circular font. Next to it is a much cooler feeling shallow bath. In a small, inside atrium-looking space is a radon bath. The sliding door seems permanently open, and the radon is now infused in the water through two bags of rocks. The energetic bubbles and added humidity of being in this enclosed space made it highly relaxing. Along the rear wall are a steam sauna and cold-water bath. These were the high points of this sento. The steam sauna was not extra hot, but it was active. There was also a display of fake flowers in a glass case. Next to the steam sauna was the boot-shaped cold-water bath; it was primarily shallow, although a deeper place allowed one person to sit with the water coming to the neck height. The waterfall was the key feature here. Pouring onto a marble and tile stool was a thick stream of water perfect for hitting your shoulders and top of the head. Combined with the cold shower near the entrance, Ikoma-yu is a sento made for cold water lovers. While some of the tiles and fixtures here have seen better days, nothing was egregious.
Also, check out the many aquariums with fish, little shrimp, and turtles in the changing room and entrance. Plus, there’s a huge gorilla statue in the entrance!
All around, this is a unique and enjoyable sento very close to the station that I happily recommend.

ReviewThere is no space for a rotenburo in this first floor supersento built underneath a gym, but it doesn't need one. They have a very inventive "outdoor" area that is worth going to see at least once. High quality stone is used throughout the modern bathing area giving this bath a much better feel than one might expect for the area. The hot spring was not very noticeable, but it was effective afterwards. For the price this is a great place for what they offer. Only down sides was the smallish Spartan changing room and the uneasy atmosphere I felt from the fellow bathers and staff.

Review:Basic in design and layout. The kakeyu appears to use spring water which is rare, but a very pleasant surprise. There is a rock-lined outdoor bath that has salt added. The hot sauna was working, but the wood was rotting in places. I was worried about getting a splinter! They also have a rare cold sauna and advertise it as the first installed in Kansai. Sadly it was not as strong as some of the other cold saunas I have experienced. Out side of the baths the rest areas and eating areas feel abandoned. This is probably due to COVID and the kitchen being closed. Over all the spring water was great, reminiscent to Fudo-yu a few kilometers to the north.

Review: Like all sento in the area, it is clean and welcoming. The ceiling has a bad case of black stuff growing up there, but let's ignore that. Super simple but wow, a super good sento. The baths are located against the dividing wall, with showers set in front of built-in tiled stools to sit on. Basic range of baths to enjoy. There's a treated, electric, deep, shallow, some jets, and a cold water standing shower. In a good place, that really is all you need. I would be happy to have this sento in my neighborhood, and I hope it stays alive long into the future. Hours of operation may be incorrect. The name may be Biyoshi.

ReviewYu~topia is a "kenko land" style multi-floor bathing and relaxation center. These "kenko land" were the predecessors to the present day supersento. A few still exist today. Judging by the web page this place has been remodeled since I went there last. There are men's and women's floors, large dining areas and party rooms to enjoy. Interesting bubble era retro experience if you're interested.

Review: Interesting place. You enter on the 2nd floor and the baths are on the 3rd floor. It used to be a sento with a royal and normal two-tiered pricing but now it is all the same. Very much a Yuasobihiroba style sento with the pastel tiles and Daiken bath signs. There are a lot of stairs here with no elevator or barrier free options. The baths were decent, and the design was unique, but it was pretty beat up sadly. Typically, this does not bother me but, I won’t be going back. Also, I cannot recommend this sento for people going there for a bath. There were signs saying if we find you doing いかがわしさ stuff we will call the police in the men's side. Basically, this is a sento for cruising more so than bathing it seems. Visit Date: March 2021

Review: ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬Not sure what the kanji is for this sento. Both 末広 and 末廣 seem to be used. Then again, the main name sign says that this place also had a previous name. Even more curious is that this sento is not listed on the Osaka Public Bathhouse Association website. So, this sento is a bit sus. However, it is clean enough and seems like it is run well.
First off, there are some great smells here. Oddly nostalgic to me. The bathing area is a bit beat up here and there, but it's clean and friendly. Kakari basin needs to be refilled often, so feel free to turn on the tap. It's also a great temp for splashing off after using the top-notch steam sauna.
Aesthetically speaking, there are many sumo wrestler autographs on the walls here, which was interesting. Furthermore, there were many differently designed tiles placed throughout the baths. Lastly, make sure to check out the etched glass in the entrance.
In conclusion, the baths could be hotter, and the cold water could be cooler. While clean looking, this place is very much showing its age. Because of these reasons, I cannot recommend this sento to everyone. However, please check it out if you're in the area and know what to expect. For what it's worth, this sento reminds me of Gokuraku-yu in Kawanishi.

Review: I went here the first time many, many years ago, but the review got lost.  This is an above-average supersento. Seems like spring water is used in all the baths, but I am not sure about that. The water is not noticeable other than feeling gentle on the skin. There is a large selection of jet baths and the always enjoyable walking bath inside. Outside has 6~8 individual tub baths, some with carbonated water, and a large shallow rock-lined rotenburo. Good place.

Japanese Name: やまとの湯 河内店Prefecture: OsakaCity: HigashiosakaAddress: 大阪府東大阪市稲葉1丁目4-23Type: Supersento
Review*CLOSED* Yamato no Yu are not worth driving across Osaka for. We ended up trying this supersento because it was part of a stamp rally. The baths here were indifferent at best. They claim to have a natural spring here but there was no sign of it when I went. It might have once been in the small inadequate rotenburo area but the spring information was covered up with an advertisement. Inside the baths felt like they barely filled the room. I will not return to this Yamato no Yu and it’s not worth going to unless you live in the neighborhood. It's really hard to find too.
Update 2019: The land is now being used for an apartment building.
