There's a spring bubbling out down by the river that the locals have built an access too and they boil eggs in the water there. Back to the ryokan, this place is massive and extremely beautiful. The baths are at the end of a long wooden staircase, putting them up in the hillside. Great wooden tubs. Two springs are used here one for the indoor bath the other for the rotenburo-- springs both are simple springs 単純温泉 at about 80deg well temp)Visit Date: October 2016

Review: Interesting day use facility for a smaller onsen village. There are two baths here that you can enjoy. The “new” one has two indoor baths a hotter one and slightly straight spring bath. The spring is mild but noticeable. Outside the bath is large but one section is closed off. This section is a basic hot spring facility and decent, but the “old” side and the museum is what you need to go here for. First the “old” side. Here the changing room looks much more from a different era. Lots of broken lockers. It seems like this section is half forgotten by the staff. In the bathing area there is a lot of wear and tear, but the baths are something I thought about doing before. What they have here is 4 baths with different bath salts added to the spring water to make it feel more 4 different types of spring water. It is the Baskin Robbins pink spoons for hot springs. On my visit each bath felt extremely hot and there was a little bit of difference to the smell, but the heat was so strong that I could not notice a difference. The staff did say, however, that they do add salts to the water each day. So, it does not really work the way I wish it would have but the idea was great. Perhaps back when this was originally built it had more of an effect. This goes also for the “museum” which could use some new lightbulbs and some TLC but it is amazing. I will write a page going over the museum soon and link it from this review. Overall, the straight well water bath in the “new” side was outstanding and the “old” bath’s concept plus the museum make this out of the way facility a must visit for any true hot spring fan.
