Wonderful, yet small, place that has unparalleled service. There are only a few baths and it feels more like a very fancy daiyokujyo in a business hotel--which makes sense as Fufu no Yu is owned by the operators of the Dormy Inn chain of hotels. The water is above average for a simple hot spring. It's the location that really puts this place on the map. Besides that the extra services really stand out. There's a small snack corner where you can buy cup noodles and cook them in the nearby mini kitchen and then eat them in the large rest area. They even had take out menus for Pizza Hut there. When we left Mia got a free ice cream because it was Sunday and I got a huge bag of snacks with my drink. Outstanding service from start to finish.

ReviewNizaemon was sadly not as clean as I wanted it to be, especially the locker room. The building is a bit chaotic. Starting at the parking lot ending in the rotenburo everything seems to be built in strange angles or shapes. Nothing here was straight forward. The baths were fine though and quite refreshing, I would not mind going back if given the chance. There is also not much in terms of competition for supersentos in this part of Kyoto. This place reminded me of Nadeshiko no Yu. It was a bit dreary on the inside and seemed very health orientated. The other bathers who chatted with me in the rotenburo were really kind and funny.Good luck getting here even with a car! It is on a very busy Kyoto street Route 9 - San’in Road) in a hilly section. If coming by bus you can take #29 from Shijyo-Karasuma, #6 from Hankyu Katsura and #73 or #33 from Kyoto station. More information is available on their website.
