Review: I have been trying to get to this hot spring for a while and finally drove out on a whim. Sadly, it has seen some better days. It was not bad by any means, just a bit underwhelming. Inside it has that mountain lodge muskiness with chipped paint here and there with a damp nature smell. I liked that. Being a bath out in the mountains you would expect a better view, but even with the wisteria still in bloom the meadow visible from the deck was merely ok compared to some of the views on the drive out to this place or along the local hiking trails. Speaking of driving this seems to be a car only location. A radioactive lukewarm spring is heated for a large indoor and smaller outdoor bath. The outdoor bath has some bubbles in half of it. Both baths are filled straight from the well from one corner. I recommend getting a hand full of that water, rubbing it on your face and enjoying the smell. The feel is very squeaky and there is a slight hazy greenish-brown color to it. Most interesting is how the water has eroded the marble fount it is pouring from and that lines some of the baths. The deck here, especially during the day when the weather is good, is a great place for some naked forest bathing. I would love to have this as a local bath if I lived in the area, that said, it is not worth making the trip out here from Osaka/Kobe unless you are going to do something else in the area. Locally handmade soap is for sale here as is spring water to take home and fill your own tub with. They also have cold well water on tap to drink.
