Enmei-Yu

Curvy describes the design here. The main bath is nice and curvy and the deep area is very nice, but the jets are weak and pushed into a cramped corner. The sauna is nice, but a little weak. The outdoor baths are both small and a little shallow.Done in a exposed concrete style with emphasis on curves, the design of Enmei-yu makes it worth a trip here. The layout is basic bandai style with separate entrances for men and women. In the wide bright changing room the lockers curve in and out as they direct you to the entrance for the baths. The toilet is located in the front end of the changing room off of an little concrete alcove. Everything seems like it was the day it was opened. Of course there are signs of this place’s age, but it's not dirty like some places get.The person in the bandai (the front reception area) is always cheerful and the customers seem very happy. I had a nice chat with a fellow gaijin here the first time I came. Everyone seems to be enjoying their own time. The name, Enmei 延命, means longevity. They also sell some sold style sodas.

Hinode Onsen

Japanese Name: 日之出温泉Prefecture: OsakaCity: FukushimaAddress: 大阪府大阪市福島区鷺洲3丁目8−20Closest Station: NodaHanshin Station / 野田阪神駅 & Ebie Station / 海老江駅Category: SentoWebpage: Price: Osaka Prefecture Public Bathhouse Association price or cheaper (sauna, if available, may be extra)Holiday: MondayHours: 16:00-23:00
Review:I thought I had been to all the sento in this area, but I was happily mistaken. Hinode Onsen is a sleepy little place in a maze of houses and apartment buildings but surprisingly good. The baths were cooler than other sento, but the steam sauna was burning--in a good way! All complemented by a cold water bath that was not too cool or warm.Be careful in the steam bath as the plastic dividers are missing and the scalding hot fountain that makes the steam is very much accessible.

Review:Sakae-yu is one of the most conveniently located sentos in the Osaka area just 2 minutes from Noda Station on the Loop Line. It is impossible not to spot it from the platform. Great classic Osaka-style sento with a ton of baths and stairs and places to explore. Highly recommended.

Very cute sign with a dragon out front and some good murals inside. Very local feeling. Sadly it needed to be repaired in places. Returned here recently to have a better view of the sento. The mural of Osaka castle is still amazing. There is a cool greek statue in the washing area and the cold bath is quality. Small place but friendly. One of the great Noda area sento.

Review:Convenient to Noda and Ebie stations! I liked this place just looking at the exterior. Inside the lobby is pretty cluttered in a welcoming kind of way. The grandmother working the counter was fun to talk to and she was interested in how I enjoyed going to sento. She explained that the local Russian guy in the neighborhood loves using the sauna. Inside everything was very clean and tidy. There's a large shallow open air bath that was great in the afternoon sun. The cold water bath was also a treat. The interior is lit up at night by a city street light mounted to the side of the wall. Like a real, honest to goodness, streetlight. According to the grandmother during the Hanshin Awaji quake the original light fixture fell and was a danger to be replaced, so the owner went with the toughest thing he could find--a city streetlight. One of those unique things you stumble upon that makes touring sento so much fun.Visit Date: August 2017
