Finally I found the time to head to Ibaraki to visit this sento and was more than pleasantly surprised. This is one of those sento that let you pay a cheaper fee for the normal baths only however I think it is worth paying the full price for this supersento. While they say this is a natural spring and more than just a simple spring, that said it was completely not apparent on the skin or by smell. There was a bit of a salty taste however in the air around the baths. The bathing area is small, but has the full complement of baths. The steam sauna and sleeping bath were particularly nice. As the baths are on the second floor and due to the shape of the roof it makes the sky seem closer than usual--a lovely experience. Indoors the jet baths and electric bath are strong and easy to find a way to enjoy. The cold water bath was also easy to access and not too cold. I had an aversion to the gokurakuyu baths because of the unremarkable experiences at the Amagasaki and Suita outlets. This one, however, made a great impression and would definitely consider returning to despite the lackluster natural spring.

Review:Sadly closing at the end of the year (2020) despite being in outstanding condition. The steam sauna seems to be the main event here for many of the regulars. It is completed by a quality cold water bath. The rest of the baths including a well laid out electric and a strong waterfall outside plus a strong sunflower jet inside only make this even better. The cold water standing shower has one of the the best shower heads ever too! Design wise its got that 80s bubble mashup but highly detailed and very much purpose built.
