The sister shop in the rural-suburban interface of KawachiNagano was interesting but never high on my list of places to go, but now that I tried this supersento I am glad I made the trip. This is one of those supersento that has a little bit of everything for everyone and does it well. The only pitfalls might be that some of the baths and the outdoor area is a bit small. Everything else is done well. The lovely carbonated gas bath is really strong and was quickly apparent on the skin. The central bubble bath had a few hundred rubber ducks for children to play with. The main bath felt hotter than a typical one, had a strong recirculation pump in the middle of the tub keeping the water energetic and it was decorated by a beautiful fountain that had water seeping from cracks in a stone. One of my favorite, and somewhat rare baths, the walking bath, was here. I chose to walk the circuit into the jets for added resistance about 10 times to get the heart pumping a bit. A steam, salt and dry sauna were here complemented by a somewhat small and popular but very clean cold water bath. Outside were many benches and two baths. The larger was circular and filled with the local natural hot spring. It was pretty brown and there was sediment in the baths and the rocks around the tub. I was surprised that it was classified as a simple spring but I will take their word on it. That said, it was only mildly noticeable with a chalky feel on the skin. The other outdoor bath was a tub made from a huge beautiful piece of Chinese jade (翡翠). While the bath was somewhat cold, it was just really fabulous just sitting in there. Thanks to the mild temperature, this would be a great place for a parent with their kids to chill out. It is unfortunate that the spring is not that apparent, but the rest of the features were good and seeing that there are not many other supersento in the area, I would give Kaze no Yu a recommendation.
