Review:A decent cold spring and small bathing area surrounded by a huge recreation complex including day use camping and BBQs, fishing, plus overnight camping and hotel stays. The spring was of decent quality but on a busy day, like the time I went, it was nearly impossible to enjoy it.

ReviewSankukai is a truly a 秘密湯 secret bath. It's a 30 minute walk from the nearest bus stop far, far up in the mountains north of Osaka. The water is amazing and hot. Be careful washing off or touching the hot faucets, it could burn. There are two simple concrete tubs a hot and warm one. There's also a small metal cold water tub in the corner. The cold water is also from a well. This is a real onsen experience and well worth the trip to enjoy it.
Update Fall 2019: I walked here from Myokenguchi. Took a good hour or so. Great walk and well worth it. The bridge and some of the buildings were washed out during a storm. Thankfully repaired. Amazing onsen but please be respectful of the place and the people who care for this place.

ReviewShio no Yu is a ryokan that has a popular day use option up in the hills north of Osaka. It is a long train and bus ride to get out to this corner of the prefecture. Some might be surprised that there are rural places like this in the prefecture at all. The baths are ryokan style baths so not much in terms of variety, but you are getting some really high quality water this is a good place. The well is actually a cold one and they heat up that water for the baths.
