ReviewJinzu Onsen is way up on the hills at the Osaka and Wakayama prefectural border and just barely on the Wakayama side. This onsen is somewhat on the same vein of spring water as Inunaki Onsen which you’ll pass on the way to get here if you head up from Osaka. At 10.5 this is some alkaline water and the soft slippery feel is outstanding. Getting out this far from the city is also part of the fun, but there are not many busses so plan before taking off. Busses operate between Kumatori on the JR Hanwa Line to Kokawa Station on the JR Wakayama Line. There really is not anything other than the hot spring at the bus stop, but it does have a small restaurant and a few vending machines. I really loved this spring and the staff were very kind and interested in me as not too many non-Japanese make it up there—despite being not too far from Osaka city proper. I took made a loop leaving Osaka, going to Kumatori, changing on to the bus, stopping at the hot spring, getting the bus down the other side of the hill to Kokawa, taking the Wakayama Line to Wakayama, lastly getting back on the Hanwa Line to Osaka. This is the longer more expensive route, but I wanted to have a day out and it was wonderful.Update Summer 2018: Still great.
